Sew the top beak in place first, then the bottom beak. Shape as desired until ducky!

Finish off. using a little bit of white wool, sew over one v shaped stitch to create a highlight, then sew in place.
4667 stitches later, and you are done!

I love it! So CUTE!!! Don’t know if you’ve seen them, there are novelties called Devil Ducks. Regular size, varying colors and patterns for the duck body, they all have horns and “frowny eyes.” Not only do I want to make a Devil Duck, regular size, I want to make a zombie duck. I’ve always been inspired by my friends, well, to make the creepy or dead version of what they’re making, so…um, consider yourself lucky you’re my friend!… hehehe This is very cute!

I have seen the devil ducks thinking about it – I’m sure one of my mates has a few even. I used to have a huge amount of novelty rubber ducks but I got rid of a load when we moved last year cos they’d gone all manky 😦 x
I had some wee ones, giraffe, lion, zebra, tiger,dragon, pirate… I gave em to the kids I used to work with. But the devil ducks I still have…those don’t seem appropriate to give to kids…
The zombie duck will happen, but may be quite a bit smaller than yours…I have a harder time with bigger…

help!!! I’ve done most of the body got to round 23 then the pattern says round 18 have i gone wrong or are the rounds numbered wrong besides that it looking great

Omgosh I absolutely LOVE this! I have been searching like forever trying to find an ‘L’ pattern for a swap. I didn’t want to do the regular ones, ya know lion, leopard, etc and now I see this rubber ducky, I’m gonna call it ‘Little Rubber Ducky’ so there’s my ‘L’, right?

no one else seems to have this problem, but maybe I’m just dense. In the beginning, you have instructions with the number of increases in the round and then in parenthesis you have the stitch count. The increases don’t add up to the stitch count. What am I misreading?
Do you mean on the very first line? The ‘Round 1:Sc around the chain, starting in 2nd chain from the hook [12 stitches per side = 24]’?
If so, then it’s because you chain 13, then skip the starting stitch like you would if you were doing flat work and crochet down the chain (12 stitches) then instead of chaining 1 and turning, you turn it into a round by crocheting up the other side of the chain (another 12 stitches, total of 24 stitches). It creates a long oval rather than a circle like the magic ring would.

If its the general rounds then they have been checked for me by another crocheter who did find some mistakes which have been changed a few days ago, so if you’d copied the pattern into a word doc or something you may have an incorrect one. If you’re working straight from the blog post though they should be correct. Remember to count an Increase as two stitches (so ‘3sc, INC’ is 3sc plus 2sc which makes 5sc, and six repeats of that would make up to 30sc). That’s usually my problem when counting stitches!
If there’re any still incorrect please do let me know specifically which ones so I can get them edited – I always appreciate the second pair of eyes.
Ah also, there are some when the stitch pattern for the round gets repeated more than six times (eg – ‘Round 6: (3sc,INC) around [60]’ – in this case, the set is repeated twelve times, not the standard six you might be looking out for.

Just a quick question, in round 16, I’m a little confused. Does it mean, 19sc, then increase, then 20sc, then 40sc, then 20sc, increase, and finally 19sc again. Also, when you say decrease, is it just 2sc together? Or 2sc together twice?
Dec is pretty much the same as sc2tog if you’re familiar with that terminology? Planet June has a brill tutorial if you’re still confused – she calls it the Invisible Decrease and it’s the way I always do it:

As for round 16 it means 19 sc, then 1 increase, then 20 sc, then 40 increases (so do two sc in each stitch to make the 40 stitches into 80), then 20 sc then 1 increase.
It’s a little long winded but just take it section by section and it builds up easily.

I don’t know if someone already asked but in rows 19 and 26 (i think?) it says 2osc. I have no idea what that means! Was it a typo or is there something I don’t know lol. I’m stuck on 19.
19 is BLO which means Back Loops Only (so don’t push your hook through both, just the rear ones). 26 is indeed a typo and should read 20sc – thanks for pointing it out! x

I would probably have advised using embroidery thread and a size 1 hook to make it scale down, although that would still be the same time input thinking about it x
Say I wanted to make it extra big do I just double everything from the very beginning of the instructions? Will it still work out or will it be too messy? Can’t wait to actually try it !!
I think that would possibly mess with the proportions, but I would be interested to hear how it goes if you do try it!
The best way to size up might be to use a bulky yarn and a larger hook, that’s worked for me in the past for projects. This is done in DK yarn, so worsted weight or bulky with a size 5 or 6 hook would automatically size it up x
Confused at to what 2osc means in row 16
